Everyone always told us "make sure you travel and enjoy life before you have kids", which I totally agree with in a sense. However, I'm here to tell you that you can still travel and have fun with kids too! We recently took a mini vacation to the quaint town of Saint Augustine, Florida! We've actually been quite a few times but never stayed the night, so we were so excited to spend the weekend exploring everything the resort and town had to offer. Traveling with 2 kids (especially a 3 month old) can be overwhelming. It's important for us to have a big enough room to accommodate all of us, convenient restaurants after a long day and good amenities to keep our wild toddler occupied. So, If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay with great amenities, good food and sweet staff look no further, I highly recommend going to Embassy Suites by Hilton Oceanfront Resort.
I'll be sharing all the details from our weekend vacation with you; Including the family friendly things to do, the best resort to stay at and our beach day with two kids. If you're looking to visit Florida, you have to stop in the historic town of Saint Augustine and stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Oceanfront Resort, trust me!

We left Friday morning and made the two hour road trip to Saint Augustine, FL with our 2 year old, Lyric and 3 month old, Lowen. We were prepared with movies and snacks... oh did I mention we were prepared with snacks? We have a major snack monster on our hands incase you were wondering! We arrived around 12:00pm and decided to check into the resort so they knew we were in town. The check in time wasn't until 4pm but they were so sweet and started preparing our room which was ready for us around 1:00pm so we could unpack and get the boys situated.
The Embassy Suites by Hilton Oceanfront Resort is stunning! It's a brand new resort so everything is very clean, crisp and beachy-modern. It's right on the beach, light and airy coastal decor, spacious pool, fitness center and they even offer complementary yoga classes oceanside. My favorite part is that they offer so many different recreational activities for adults as well as kids to do. They have everything from ping pong, soccer to over sized chess boards. There was just so much to do that I almost wish we could have stayed a whole week to soak it all in! They hold all their events in an area they call "The Lawn" which is a huge grassy area filled with games and things to do. The 2 nights we were there they hosted a parachute play for the kids and also had movies on the lawn. Unfortunately our toddler wasn't feeling the best so we didn't get a chance to play with everything but we were able to sneak down one night and let him run around.
Our Room │We walked into our room and I was blown away! It was a suite-style with an ocean view which was beautiful. Our room included a bedroom and separate living area with a sofa, a small kitchen and a second little bedroom nook which had bunk beds and a TV. Lyric absolutely adored this area and he slept in his own bed every night. It's really important for us to have two separate spaces when the boys are winding down for bed so it feels like home as much as possible. Our room also has a chair, dining table, wet bar, refrigerator, coffeemaker with so many coffees and teas to choose from and a microwave. I can't stress enough how important a microwave is when you have a baby who loves warm bottles and you sterilize them frequently (this is a must have for us!) On top of having everything we need while traveling their rooms were very bright with whites and cream tones and the occasional pop of wood. The bathroom was extremely spacious with the best grooming products, which was a nice surprise because normally I just bring my own, but no need to here!
Restaurant │My husband and I are huge foodies. We're always down to try new things, explore new places and test our palate with different and unique flavors. So, for us... having a nice restaurant at the resort is key, especially with kids.
The Embassy Suites by Hilton Oceanfront Resort offers a couple different restaurants right there at the resort so you don't even have to leave. Let me tell ya, the food is delicious! Right when we arrived we decided to head to their Rhum Bar (because....two kids, ya feel me?) which has a free complimentary happy hour from 4:30pm- 6:30pm (thats right I said FREE! ) and is located in the lobby. They specialize in rum-based drinks but they also have a variety of cocktails to choose from during their happy hour plus they have light appetizers which was perfect for our toddler as well as us. They have a cute patio outside where you can sit back, relax and listen to the ocean. Personally, we love places that offer outdoor seating, because our kids love being outdoors and if they're a little loud we don't feel AS embarrassed, haha. So we sat out there and enjoyed some cocktails while the boys got some fresh air! the first night I got wine and the second night I got vodka and lemonade which my husband got as well!
Harvest & Reel is the main restaurant at the resort which features a mix of seafood and farm to table dining. The restaurant is a really inviting setting and they were super accommodating when it came to our two kids! We were pretty full from our late lunch so we each got an entree and It was all so delicious!
I decided to try the grilled Mahi Mahi and my husband got the Steak.
At the same restaurant, they set up their complimentary breakfast which starts at 7:00am; you already know we were there right when it opened haha. Since we were one of the first people to arrive, we didn't have to stand in line or wait for freshly made omelets (which were the best ever by the way)! They have an assortment of options to choose from including eggs, sausage, bacon, breakfast potatoes, grits, yogurt, oatmeal with many toppings, donuts, muffins and bagels. They also had a lady making fresh omelets of your choice which we got a few times. We loved the sausage, bacon and ham omelet with onion and cheddar cheese which I highly recommend! Since we got there so early we decided to sit outside and enjoy the sunrise which was perfection! After breakfast we decided to take a walk on the beach because Lyric, our toddler loved it.
Castaway Cantina is located by the pool and right by the ocean, which was the most beautiful view. We ate lunch here and then got some drinks to take back to the pool! The dishes here are Latin-inspired and are so dang good, even our two year old ate everything! We started off with the ceviche, my husband and I both got the tacos and our toddler ate everything we had (he personally loved the ceviche)!
Starbucks is located in the hotel which is heaven sent for us! We obviously need all the coffee especially when our kids decide to wake up at 5am for the day. haha. So we took a little stroll first thing in the morning to grab some much needed coffee! I love having coffee dates with my husband, so it was a bonus to enjoy the morning with the boys as well! If you don't want Starbucks the hotel offers complimentary Seattles Best coffee which my husband actually drank every day and really enjoyed.
Pool & Beach │To me, this was the highlight of our trip. Lyric, our super busy toddler LOVES to be outside and in the water. So every time we go somewhere we spend the majority of our days outside enjoying the the pool and beach. The pool at Embassy Suites by Hilton Oceanfront Resort is BEAUTIFUL and right by the ocean! It has a beach style entry, meaning you can gradually walk into it without using steps which we love for Lyric because he normally plays in that shallow part. They also had live music playing and fire pits lit up in the evening which was a nice little touch! Okay, now for the beach. I can't express how much I love resorts that are beachside because it makes life so much easier when you have kids and a bunch of stuff to carry. After the pool we headed to the beach for an hour so Lyric could play in the sand and dip his toes in the salty water. He absolutely loves the beach so this resort was seriously perfect for our family. The hotel is so accommodating they even provide beach chairs you can use at no charge. However, if you want an umbrella for the day it is $15, which we did. Right next to the resort is Anastasia State Park which is a beachfront nature preserve with nature trails, hammocks and ancient sand dunes. It is such a beautiful place especially when the sun is starting to go down and it cools off a little.
We had the best time and as parents we were SO appreciative of all the kid friendly things for Lyric to do. It made our stay that much more enjoyable for both my husband and I as well as our kids. So, If you're looking to travel to Saint Augustine, FL... whether it's for a family vacation, solo trip, girls weekend or a couples getaway, I would highly recommend Embassy Suites by Hilton Oceanfront Resort. They have something for everyone to do with great accommodations, beautiful rooms, relaxing view, and friendly staff that will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable!
